Lydia and Resean’s wedding at the River Road & Jasmine House is an event I’ve been looking forward to ever since their engagement session a few months ago! They met soon after Lydia arrived at College of Charleston, when she was downtown with a friend, and he was out with some friends from the Citadel. Lydia says her first memory of him is seeing him and wondering how on Earth he could survive the heat and humidity while dressed in his wool Citadel uniform! They have been together ever since that first meeting, enduring a long distance relationship while she finishes her degree in Charleston, and works at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
From the decor, to the attire, to the toasts and dancing, every bit of their wedding day represented their love and personalities perfectly. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I want to tell the story of their wedding day in images. Trust me, with the pure emotion on everyone’s faces, you’ll have no problem feeling like you were a guest yourself!
Lydia and Resean decided against a First Look, but wanted to meet for a silent moment before the ceremony. Both of them were surprised by their emotions in this moment, as nerves gave way to the comfort of just being able to hold hands.
It’s not every wedding ceremony that brings about tears, laughter, AND makes your heart melt at the cuteness!
After the ceremony and family formals, we managed to steal away for enough time to capture some details while they signed their marriage licenses and enjoyed a moment together before entering the reception! The River Road and Jasmine House’s winding paths and lush greenery make perfect hiding spots for a few moments alone.
Lydia, I know how much you adore Magnolia blossoms, so this one is for you!
They sang to each other during the First Dance as husband and wife, and even my second shooter and I couldn’t hold back a couple of tears!
The food and decor at River Road and Jasmine House did not disappoint!
GT, your toast was so funny, I had to recount the “late night emergency phone call” story AGAIN with my second shooter afterwards because it made us laugh so hard! All of the toasts were great, and it’s easy to see that every guest at this wedding was as happy for Lydia and Resean as they were happy to be married!
The party moved outside under a tent for bouquet and garter toss and dancing, and let me tell you, I’ve never gotten down at a wedding like I did at this one!
I’m glad to see you CMPD folks can let loose on your days off!
Citadel grads and their rings, reunited!
After a LOT of dancing, laughing, and my second shooter and I even being invited on the dance floor for some lessons (okay, I was the only one who needed lessons), everyone lined up for a great bubble exit for the bride and groom.
Lydia and Resean, I have to say it once more: I just adore you two to pieces, and I feel so blessed to have been a part of your wedding journey from engagements photos until “I do”! I wish you both the best in your future, and hopefully I will see you both again at the weddings of your friends and family members.
