Professional Photographers of SC Convention in Charleston

As a Columbia, SC Wedding Photographer, I spend the majority of my time with clients and working alone in — you guessed it — Columbia, SC.  Like I’ve mentioned before, though, I value all of the professional education and networking opportunities I can get! This weekend, the Professional Photographers of SC Convention was held in beautiful Charleston, and I just have to fill you all in on the amazing time we all had.

Oh, just a gorgeous spring day in Charleston, SC…in February!

Gary Hughes of HughesFioretti Photography teaching a workshop at SCPhotoCon 2016, along with his wife and toddler
Gary Hughes of HughesFioretti Photography in Florida came to teach a headshot class, and he brought his wife and daughter along. I kind of have to admit that I spent maybe a little too much time with Eleanor playing toddler games and speaking in my old preschool teacher voice!

What photographers do for fun: work in coffee shops and play with off-camera lighting on the sidewalk after dinner! David Junker and Booray Perry had fun with this photo of me, using only an iPhone and a LumeCube! Booray’s wedding photography class was amazing, and he had everyone cracking up all weekend. One of the best parts of a convention like this is having the opportunity to hang out and socialize with award-winning photographers from around the globe!

Speaking of award-winning photographers…I was honored to receive the President’s Award from PPSC this year! I owe a big thank you to Charlotte Ashley Photography for taking these two photos of me.

Corey Potter of Fuel Your Photos teaching a class on SEO
Corey Potter (aka the man behind my new website) gave an awesome class on marketing and optimizing our website design. This was NOT easy to wrap our minds around, but fortunately, he threw in a fun little game for us. 😉

Last but certainly not least, Ohio and Charleston based photographer Ted Linczak of Nuvo Images taught a hands-on shooting class. This was by far my favorite part of the convention. Check out this awesome couple we had to work with!

Now that both winter 2016 conventions have come to an end, I am ready to kick off the spring wedding and engagement season! Keep your eyes peeled for some amazing Columbia, SC engagement sessions coming up in less than a week!
