My First Wedding Comes Full Circle

maternity photos in a purple gown

A few years ago, Amanda and Greg chose me to be their wedding photographer, and it was the first wedding I ever photographed on my own (as in, it was so long ago, I can’t even link to the gallery, because it wasn’t on this site or the beta one before this).  Their faith in me paid off, because their photos were awesome, if I do say so myself, and now, as they are expecting their first child, they hired me again to photograph their maternity session.

I have photographed maternity sessions in the past, but since I focus mostly on weddings, I haven’t done a maternity session in quite some time, and I’m so thrilled Amanda and Greg allowed me to capture this time for them. The glow of an expecting mother cannot be matched, and is a time in life that is very much worth documenting.

Amanda and Greg chose a location that means a lot to Amanda: her best friend’s childhood home in Newberry, SC.

Maternity couple in the woods, giggling
As always in my sessions, a couple of serious poses end in laughter after a couple of jokes or silly comments. I just love the reactions Amanda and Greg had when they started giggling.

This pond, this tree, and the way they interact is even more beautiful than I remember them the day they were married.

During Amanda’s childhood, this field is where a lot of her playtime happened with her best friend, Jenny.

I just love the beauty of being in a place that means a lot to a couple, especially when it’s a couple I’ve been blessed enough to document since the beginning of their relationship.

We began under this magnolia tree, and my favorite part of the day was when Amanda said “what’s more Southern than a fancy dress under a magnolia tree? If this isn’t Melissa Brewer Photography, I don’t know what is!”

This purple gown was the perfect accent to Amanda’s natural beauty.

This one is definitely among my top 10 favorite images from this session!

What an amazing blessing it was to be able to capture this time for Amanda and Greg, and spend time on the property where a lot of Amanda’s childhood memories were made. Thank you, guys, for allowing me to be a part of this huge time in your lives! I love you both!

Sure, engagement sessions are fun, but have you ev Sure, engagement sessions are fun, but have you ever considered a post-wedding session?! I had a blast seeing Melissa and Bobby again after their wedding last October. This time, I flew across the country to their neck of the woods for a casual morning in Joshua Tree, and loved every minute of it! Who else is ready to head to the desert??
Society tells us to hustle nonstop, but the Earth Society tells us to hustle nonstop, but the Earth tells us to take in all the amazing creations and beauty around us. They’re out there, for free! Take the trip, walk in the very cold ocean, talk to some strangers on the beach, sit in silence and soak in every bit of your experiences. Life is beautiful!
I am SO glad we decided to detour over to Palm Spr I am SO glad we decided to detour over to Palm Springs on this work vacay. I never wanted to leave! ALLLLL the bright colors filled me with so much inspiration, and we have 3 days in San Diego next 🙌🏻 #californialove #palmsprings
