A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing a very special and beautiful wedding right in Chapin, SC, just outside of South Carolina’s capital city of Columbia, with a reception at the gorgeous Palmetto Club in downtown. As you scroll down, you’ll recognize the bride from this SC State House bridal session!
Libby and James Edward (JE)met in 2012 during a History class at Presbyterian College. They spoke in class and became friends, which led to them dating about a year later. Libby said, “Over the years, God made it extremely evident we were made for one another, which led to our engagement in September 2015!”
In planning their wedding, Libby and JE knew there were certain important aspects of their lives that they wanted to incorporate. Since both of their families are Scottish, they had an incredibly talented bagpiper playing during the ceremony, and also displayed their clan tartans at the altar. During the service, Libby’s brother, Cam, sang “In Christ Alone”, a duet, with Brooks Arpad Durazs (son of the late Arpad Darazs, who was a well-known choral director, and founded the USC Concert Choir).
Since both the bride and groom are native South Carolinians, they chose a buffet of our state’s most well-known dishes for their reception, including Shrimp & Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes w/ Pimento Cheese, oysters, barbeque, and of course, sweet tea. Let me just say, it was delicious!!
After the ceremony, guests traveled the short distance from Chapin to the Palmetto Club in downtown Columbia, SC, which is widely known as one of the most prestigious and elegant city clubs in South Carolina. It did not disappoint, and from the wedding party announcements to the final sparkler exit, this party was perfect!
I hope you all enjoy these highlights from Libby and JE’s wedding at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church and Palmetto Club reception!
